 INTRODUCTION

Human resources in teaching and learning refers to the persons which can be used as

source for gathering information. “Human” means knowledge, skill and technology and

“resource” means development. Human resource refers to the number (quantity) and

abilities (mental and physical) of people. Human resources, they are aggregate of all those

human capability which helps in human welfare activities. Human resources in science

education includes, Resource persons, eminent teachers, Personalities, Scientist in the local

community etc.


RESOURCE PERSON

A resource person is anybody who can supply learners with useful information. The person

could be either a professional or non- professional.

How a teacher can make use of resource person

 Identify the resource person.

 Invite the resource person.

 Inform the resource person through the head teacher.

 Inform the resource person about what you intend to teach together with the level

of the learners.

 Prepare the learners for talk from the resource person by informing them to the

topic.

 A teacher can use a resource person if he or she doubts to teach a certain topic.


ADVANTAGES

 Resource persons influence the future careers of the students.

 After getting a lecture from prominent persons the learners may aspire to be like

those persons.

 Use of resource people motivates the learners to learn with the hope that resource

person has something special to offer.

 They provide new information to the learners and teachers which might not be

available in any books.


DISADVANTAGES

 If not guided, the person may deviate from the topic.

 Inviting a resource person may interfere with the school program.

 Failure of the resource person to turn up may demotivate the pupils.

 They are not teachers so may unable to handle the class well and deliver the

content.

 It is time consuming


SCIENTISTS IN LOCAL COMMUNITY

A scientist is a person who studies or has expertise in science. A scientist tries to understand

our world or other things work. Scientists makes observation, ask questions and do

extensive research work in finding the answers to may not know about.

Scientist may work in laboratories for governments, companies and research institutes.

Some scientists teach at universities and other places and train people to become scientists.

Scientists who are doing applied science try to use scientific knowledge to improve the

world.

 Interaction with scientists can motivate students towards science and scientific

research.

 They can introduce various types of journals in various fields of science

 Provide knowledge about scientific research.

 They can serve as a role model.

Human resources are the most important asset in an organization. The optimum

utilization of natural and man made resources can be ensured if human resources

are sufficiently motivated. Organization must necessarily invest time, money and

effort in the development of human resources. Human resources can be

developed to an unlimited extent since every human beings has endless

potentialities.
